Rookin House Farm

Rookin House is an established adventure venue and has been offering a wide variety of outdoor activities for over 20 years. We are the only activity centre in the lake district national park who offer such a wide variety of activities from horse riding to quad biking to the zip wire and the Madtrax All Terrain Vehicles.

Go Ape Tree Top Adventure

Take one lush, green forest and a healthy dollop of breathtaking scenery; blend with a smattering of tree-top high wires, tricky crossings (using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and super-strong wire) and wind-in-your-face zip wires; finished off with a liberal dose of people in search of their inner Tarzan.

Hadrian’s Wall

For around three centuries, Hadrian’s Wall was a vibrant, multi-cultured frontier sprawling almost 80 miles coast-to-coast. Built by a force of 15,000 men in under six years, it’s as astounding today for its sheer vision as it is for its engineering. Milecastles, barracks, ramparts and forts punctuate a diverse landscape that provides a dramatic backdrop.

The Lake District National Park has walks for every ability from ambles around lakes to high ridge walks, with a bit of scrambling. You don't need to worry about navigation and can learn from a knowledgeable local about the area. Pick from short, scenic picnic strolls to full days through spectacular landscape. And they're usually free!

Arragons Cycle Hire - Lowther Castle is our main cycle hire location, situated in the heart of Cumbria - With an excellent range of dedicated trails aimed at families & options to cycle further afield, if you're seeking a more technical adventure. It is a truly fabulous destination from which to cycle. You will find a super cafe & toilet facilities at the castle.Our hire charge includes helmet, puncture repair kit and a lock if you wish.

Ullswater Boat Hire

Lakeland Boat Hire offers enjoyment for the whole family with a wide range of boats for hire. Treat the children or granny and grandpa to a luxury motor boat or take a romantic row for two. For the more adventurous types we offer Canadian canoes which will feed your need for the great outdoors.

The Ullswater Way

The Ullswater Way is a 20-mile walking route around Ullswater. The route can be walked in either direction and from any starting point. Why not walk the route in shorter sections, using an open top bus or steamer to start your journey!

Aira Force is a showcase for the power and beauty of nature; it’s a place to escape the ordinary. For 300 years visitors have been drawn here, where rainwater runs from the fells into Aira Beck and thunders in one 65-foot leap over the falls.

Then look no further than Penrith Golf Hub...Boasting the most outstanding golf facilities in the Lake District, our fun-filled activities include a 14 bay driving range, 9 hole Foot Golf, par 3 golf course and newly opened 18 hole adventure golf course.

The climbing wall has over 40 top rope climbs with a height of up to 8 metres, providing climbers of all abilities with every challenge they could want. There is a large bouldering area and new for this year is a huge 45 degree Woody sponsored by Needle Sports.
